Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage applies to children from birth to the end of the reception year. In our school, all children join us, full time, after a short period of staggered entry.

Early Years Quality Mark

Stanley Park Infants' School is committed to providing an engaging and purposeful learning environment for our children. We have recently been awared the Early Years Quality mark in recognition of our high quality teaching, planning and continuous provision.

The curriculum in Early Years covers seven areas of learning and development. All areas of learning and development are connected to one another and are covered through children's interests and broad topics.

The areas of learning and development are divided into two main sections:

Prime Areas

  • personal, social and emotional development
  • physical development
  • communication and language

Specific Areas

  • literacy
  • mathematics
  • understanding the world
  • expressive arts and design

Children in our Nursery and Reception classes have fantastic facilities for both indoor and outdoor learning. We have spacious and stimulating classrooms and outside areas that the children use throughout the school day.
